I’m Sophie, founder of Square Peg Parenting.

I’m here to share practical and easy to follow solutions to help you help your child feel their best.

I founded Square Peg after working for over 20 years with kids struggling in the classroom, and parents struggling at home. I found that parents of neurodivergent kids often feel unsupported and alone. They feel that all the weight to help their child is on their shoulders to fit their square peg kid into the round holes of education and society.

I want to help you feel empowered and supported to raise your neurodivergent child to feel their best, and feel confident in who they are.

WHY I FOUNDED SQUARE PEG PARENTING

I have a Master’s degree in education and child development, am a certified Positive Discipline educator, a BANT registered child nutritionist, and a trained picky eating expert. I’ve worked with hundreds of families to help their children to feel their best.

Then I had my own son. My fantastically neurodivergent boy.

And even with my degrees, with all of my experience and knowing the challenges that parents face, I struggled. I felt isolated and heartbroken. I felt like I had to fight every step of the way. I just wished someone would take some of the burden from my shoulders and let me breathe. I spent years searching for the right support for my son. And each time I was finally confident we had the best support in place, he would change or his school would ask more from him. I would be back to google, asking other parents or searching social media for answers.

It’s too much for one family. I wanted to create a community for parents to receive the support they need every step of the way. All in one place. I also wanted to celebrate our kids, to talk about the wonderful moments alongside the challenges. I wanted to look beyond the struggles, and see our kids for their fantastically neurodiverse selves.

THE SQUARE PEG APPROACH

Empowering parents to navigate neurodivergent minds.

Neurodiversity is the understanding that there are natural differences in how brains work and how each of us experience, understand and interact with the world.

Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, learning differences and processing challenges are recognised and respected as different, not deficient, allowing children to be themselves.

Every child is different. We believe their differences should be embraced.

We live in a world where children are pushed to be the same. Their skills are measured against each other and differences are left behind. We want our children to succeed as their unique selves. At Square Peg we embrace each child and challenge the world to adjust to their needs.

Every family should feel valued.
Each family is unique, with different cultural, religious, ethical and financial stories. And every family knows their children best. At Square Peg we support families to feel empowered and prepared to make decisions that feel right for their child and their family.

Developmentally appropriate information should empower decisions.
Social media and google can feed misinformation and overwhelm parents. When your child is struggling, finding the right help can feel impossible. At Square Peg we give you tools and strategies based in education, psychology and science to help you feel confident raising your square peg child in a round hole culture.
